Her music career started years back while still based in Kigali, Rwanda where she started out as a back up singer for bands back in Kigali.” However back then it was a bit hard as the bands didn’t have enough machines and music instruments to back us but we still persisted with the situation at hand because we loved making records anyway’ explains the shouty Princess. It is while still in Kigali that she hooked up with a one producer JP who was also her first boyfriend at the time to record her first single, however later her boyfriend recorded a song for a rival female recording artist which instantly became an overnight hit, a misunderstanding was to later occur an issue which caused the artist to relocate to Nairobi, Kenya to find her feet again.
While in Nairobi she seldom kept in the “hood” mainly keeping the company of the Ogopa Deejays. So one day when Big pin (respected veteran Kenyan recording artist) found her rehearsing in the studio he liked her style and decided that they record a duet together. The result was a song titled “Usiwaste” my time which would later become a major hit on the Nairobi club circuit. Princess was by now concentrating on a solo career alongside pushing a modeling career as a magazine cover girl in Nairobi.
